If you decide to invest in LED signage, one thing’s for sure: you want it to succeed. The amount of time and money invested in such a campaign is too valuable to let it fail. So what are the key strategies that lead to a successful digital signage installation?
Here we can refer to one of Plato’s quotes: “The beginning of the work is the most important part of any work”. Digital signage experts say that it is very important for vendors to discuss with clients from the beginning as to what the client wants out of this investment. Accordingly, the design and content strategy, hardware, software, connectivity, display and control system will fall into place.
Only if the objective of the project as a whole is defined from the start, the entire team can work closely with this objective in mind and make sure that it is met.
The next step for successful installation is to have a strong strategy in place for updating the content; particularly for a dynamic LED screen such as a waiting list or a menu board. In such situations where content needs to be regularly updated, a clear cut strategy for doing so will save the expense of having to go back to your designer every time a word or two needs to be changed.
When it comes to hardware and software, keep in mind that a media player is chosen based on the content type (HTML, JPEG, touch enabled, etc). Also, your display should be chosen based on where you are going to place it and what you are going to show on it (text, videos, graphics, etc).
The final stages involve testing, re-testing and continuously monitoring progress. During testing, make sure the system is able to handle stress and extreme weather conditions. First test it in an artificial environment, make your alterations based on those test results and once again test it in a live environment. Repeat these tests and then roll it out. Lastly, to make sure the installation remains successful, the vendor has to stay involved and provide regular monitoring and support.
